Pitlochry is the famous for the ‘theatre in the hills’, Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre and the Enchanted Forest, but for a visit to the cinema to watch a movie, the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy is the number one choice for visitors to and residents of this lovely Highland Perthshire town. It’s a 25 minute drive from Pitlochry to the cinema via the A9 followed by the A827 through the hamlets of Ballinluig, Logierait and Grandtully, passing over the rivers Tummel and Tay along the way.
Once in Aberfeldy you can look forward to exploring many local walks, our local play parks, our swimming pool within Breadalbane Community Campus, an array of unique shopping experiences and of course our fabulous Birks Cinema Café!
The Birks Cinema Café offers the ideal venue whether you’re seeking morning coffee with our homemade cakes and scones, a hearty soup and panini lunch or something tasty later in the day. We host a wide range of hot and cold beverages, with hot chocolate being a firm favourite. Our family friendly staff make our café welcoming to visitors of all ages, with easy accessibility and on street parking and car parks close by. Watch the world go by as you look out over Aberfeldy Square.
Make a day of it in Aberfeldy, don’t just book your movie tickets, take the time to discover our market town and the surrounding area whilst you’re here! You will never tire taking in the beauty of our area and the wealth of places to visit, such as; The Scottish Crannog Centre, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, the Birks of Aberfeldy waterfall, Castle Menzies, Highland Safaris, The Watermill Bookshop & Gallery… what will you explore on your day out in Aberfeldy?
Take the ‘back road’ along the north side of the river Tay back to Pitlochry via Weem, Strathtay and Pitnacree, passing Cluny House Gardens and St Mary’s Church along the way before joining the A827 taking you back to the A9. Or, maybe we would enjoy taking in Loch Tummel and the hamlet of Foss on the south side of the loch – passing the Braes of Foss car park where Outlander was filmed so fans can spot the stone marker pointing towards Craigh na Dun – before reaching the famous Clunie Arch built in memory of the Tunnel Tigers. The Foss road is not recommended during winter months, however it is spectacular throughout the seasons.
