Feldy-Folk Tales - an exciting new weekly stories group starting at the Birks Cinema , thanks to support from Creative Scotland and the SPA Community Benefit Fund.
We would like to invite you and your colleagues, friends and family along to the launch of Feldy-Folk Tales, for the older residents of Aberfeldy and the surrounding area. The launch will be Friday 13th February at 2pm, in our new Creative Space with refreshments provided, followed by weekly sessions at the same time going forward.
At the launch writer and Aberfeldy resident Lesley Wilson will host the event where you can hear examples of the stories that have been created in collaboration with older residents across Perthshire and Skye and Lochalsh over the past ten years. The stories shared will be a mixture of fact and fiction, past, present, and even future, including some hilarious short fiction created during her work in care homes.
Everyone has a story to tell but often as we get older no one wants to listen. Working in a creative, collaborative, and careful way, Lesley supports and encourages individuals and groups to share their stories. Sometimes telling a story and having it heard by another person is enough. However, some of the
stories created in past story groups have been shared with families, friends, local communities in a variety of ways including plays, poems, short stories, paintings, films and so far, in two published books.
If you’re curious, want to know more, or you know someone who might be interested in joining in then come along on Fri 13 th February from 2-4 where, after her presentation, there will be plenty of opportunity to chat to Lesley and ask questions.
‘The best thing about this group is about telling a story or making up a new one and having someone listen to it, really listen to it. Everyone is so busy nowadays to listen.’ Past participant.
Older residents participating in previous groups have ranged in age from age 60 to 102.
