Part of the Heartland Film Society Monthly Series
This special screening will start with a short Q & A with Calum Maclean, who will respond to questions about how Irish is used in the film 'Kneecap' and discuss the similarities and differences to Scottish Gaelic. Calum Maclean is a TV presenter, fluent in both Scottish Gaelic and English. He is a film-maker, outdoor broadcaster and outdoor swimmer and lives in Aberfeldy.
Of the 80,000 native Irish speakers, 6,000 live in the North of Ireland and three of them became a rap group called Kneecap. This is the real-life story of how this anarchic Belfast trio became the unlikely figureheads of a civil rights movement to save and reinvigorate their mother tongue.
