Dunkeld boasts delightful places to visit, but for a visit to the cinema to watch a movie, the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy is the number one choice for visitors to and residents of this lovely Highland Perthshire town. It’s a beautiful 25 minute drive from Dunkeld to the cinema through the Tay Valley – and if you choose to go via glorious Strathbraan, your drive is almost worthy of a movie in itself!
Would you prefer a straight drive up the A9 to Ballinluig or would you rather take the slower more scenic route through the hamlets of Dalguise and Balnaguard – passing the confluence of the river Tay and Tummel? Both routes will bring you to the village of Grandtully… you are not far from Aberfeldy now… you can look forward to exploring our local walks, play parks, swimming pool, unique shopping experience and of course our fabulous Birks Cinema Café!
The Birks Cinema Café offers the ideal venue whether you’re seeking morning coffee with our homemade cakes and scones, a hearty soup and panini lunch or something tasty later in the day. We host a wide range of hot and cold beverages, with hot chocolate being a firm favourite. Our family friendly staff make our café welcoming to visitors of all ages, with easy accessibility and on street parking and car parks close by. Watch the world go by as you look out over Aberfeldy Square.
They say “there is no rush north of Dunkeld” so make a day of it, don’t just book your movie tickets, take the time to discover Aberfeldy and our surrounding area whilst you’re here! You will never tire taking in the beauty of our area and the wealth of places to visit, such as; The Scottish Crannog Centre, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, the Birks of Aberfeldy waterfall, Castle Menzies, St Mary’s Church in Strathtay (hamlet adjacent to Grandtully), Highland Safaris, The Watermill Bookshop & Gallery… what will you explore on your day out in Aberfeldy?
Heading home via Strathbraan makes a nice circular route (travel here clockwise or anti-clockwise) through some of Highland Perthshire most scenic countryside… passing lochans, waterfalls, hamlets and woodlands. Stop at the viewpoint 3.5 miles south of Aberfeldy on the A826 to enjoy views of Aberfeldy, the river Tay, Schiehallion and beyond.
